⚠️ GPRS Emergency

End of 2G/3G Support: Why You Should Migrate Your Water Meter Management System Now

It is estimated that more than 200 000 the number of GPRS modems still in use in the water and wastewater sector in France. Their gradual phase-out—without replacement—means a complete interruption in alarm transmissions, exposing local authorities to legal risks and undetected overspending.

🏛️ Regulations

Compliance with Self-Monitoring Requirements for Local Governments

Operators of wastewater treatment systems are subject to strict regulatory requirements for self-monitoring. Eziwan is designed to meet these requirements out of the box.

📋
Decree of July 21, 2015
Self-Monitoring of Sewage Systems

Requires continuous monitoring of discharge parameters for wastewater treatment plants and collection systems. Eziwan automatically archives time-stamped measurements and generates the required annual reports.

🗄️
5-Year Retention
Regulatory Data Retention

All monitoring data (flow rates, analyses, alarms) are retained for at least 5 years in our data centers located in France, with guaranteed access for the relevant authorities.

📤
SANDRE Format
Data Exchange with Government Agencies

Export data in a format compatible with SANDRE (National Service for Water Data and Repositories) for transmission to SATESE and government agencies.

🔐
Alarm Traceability
A time-stamped and complete alarm log

Each alarm (overflow, threshold exceeded, communication failure) is time-stamped to the second, acknowledged, and archived. This serves as legal evidence for litigation and prefectural formal notices.

📊
Automatic Annual Report
Annual Report on Water Services for the State Department

Automatic generation of the annual operating report (RPQS) with performance indicators, network performance, and a summary of alarms. Export to PDF or send digitally.

Oise Valley Water Authority
47 monitored pumping stations · Deployment in Q1 2024
Initial Situation

The utility operated 47 pumping and lift stations spread across 12 municipalities in the Oise department. Monitoring relied on SOFREL S4W GPRS modems installed between 2009 and 2012. Since the phased shutdown of Orange’s 2G network in 2024, 31 stations have stopped transmitting any alarms, leaving maintenance crews completely unaware of incidents.

Solution Deployed

Replacement of the 47 SOFREL S4W modems with Eziwan LTE gateways in 4 weeks. Retained the existing RS-485 cabling. Migrated the 210 Modbus registers (levels, pump statuses, hour meters, overflow alarms) to the cloud platform. Trained the 6 operations technicians in half a day.

"The migration went smoothly for our teams. In less than a week, all our stations were sending their alarms over 4G. The improvement in responsiveness was immediate—before, we would only discover outages during our weekly rounds."
