How to Access Your PLC in 5 Steps

From gateway installation to the first remote access: less than 5 minutes, without opening a single port.

01

Install the Eziwan Gateway on a DIN rail

Mount the enclosure on the 35mm DIN rail in your electrical cabinet. Connect the 9–36V DC power supply. The gateway operates at temperatures ranging from -40°C to +75°C and can be installed directly alongside your PLCs without the need for a climate-controlled cabinet.

02

Connect the PLC via RS-485 or Ethernet

Connect your PLC to the gateway: use an RJ45 Ethernet cable for IP-networked PLCs (Siemens S7, Schneider M340/M580, Allen-Bradley), or an RS-485 bus for Modbus RTU devices (drives, sensors, meters). The RTU/TCP bridge is automatic.

03

Turn On — Automatic ZTP

When powered on for the first time, the gateway automatically connects to the Eziwan cloud via 4G LTE and establishes the OpenVPN/IPSec VPN tunnel. Zero-Touch Provisioning: no manual network configuration required, and no ports need to be opened on the site’s firewall.

04

Authenticate the technician

In the Eziwan Cloud console, assign access rights to the technician: list of authorized devices (by IP), time window, validity period, and 2FA requirement. Each access event is logged with a timestamp, the user’s identity, and the devices accessed.

05

Access via TIA Portal, Unity Pro, or the Modbus client

The technician activates the VPN tunnel on their PC. TIA Portal, Unity Pro / EcoStruxure Machine Expert, Studio 5000, or your Modbus client connect to the PLC as if they were on the local network. Modbus registers can be read and modified in real time.

IT Security · Zero Trust

Zero Trust Architecture for
your industrial OT networks

OT network security cannot be improvised. Eziwan implements a comprehensive Zero Trust architecture: every access attempt is authenticated, authorized, and logged. No incoming ports are open on your industrial network—your infrastructure remains invisible from the Internet.

Zero Inbound Port
The gateway initiates only outbound connections to the cloud. No network scanner can detect your OT devices from the Internet.
OpenVPN AES-256-GCM
AES-256-GCM end-to-end encryption with OpenVPN, a proven and extensively audited protocol. Firewall traversal via TCP port 443 and X.509 certificate authentication.
Segmentation by Equipment
Each user has access only to the equipment they are explicitly authorized to use. A technician working on the Line 1 PLC cannot see the Line 2 PLC.
Comprehensive audit log
Every connection is logged: user ID, time, duration, and devices accessed. Data can be exported to PDF or CSV for NIS2 and IEC 62443 compliance.
